It is easy to get in a rut with personal style. We work so hard to figure out what it is...and then forget to help it develop.
As circumstances, location, work setting, life, etc go through changes—so do you!! Your personal style is allowed to evolve & grow along with this.
Style ruts can negatively affect our mood and confidence. So how do we get out of them?
1- Start with a small change within your own wardrobe This can be as small as wearing something a new way. Reach for something that hasn't been worn in a while and search Pinterest for inspiration on how to re-style it. That skirt you always wear with a blouse and heels? Try a it with a cropped graphic tee and sneakers.
Try mixing up mixing up color combos. If you always where your red pants with a white top... see how you feel about matching it with a bold teal or pattern.
2- Give yourself permission to push the boundaries and try something completely new. Unique statement pieces that can be styled multiple ways are a good place to start! If you are one that constantly plays it safe patterns or fits, try branching out in color and fit. You can pair a bold and colorful piece with a classic or more subdued article from your wardrobe.
3- Stop overthinking what you CAN’T pull off. There is a tendency for the over saturation of perfectly curated social media to make us feel like we could never be that put together. Your journey with your personal style is uniquely your own, and it takes some trial and error to figure it out.
Remember, that if you don’t evolve, you could be missing out on things that might be more your style!
Have you felt like you are in a rut? Don't forget to check in with your style every once and a while!
